Room 201
Students will begin learning sewing basics this week in home economics. We will be making a football bean bag as a small starting project. Each student needs to provide an old piece of clothing or cloth to create this project by Thursday, January 5th.
We will begin working on our winter blankets starting next week. Fleece fabric is on sale now half price at many local stores. Each student needs two colors of fleece fabric in whatever size they would like to make their blanket. 2 and a half yards of each makes a very large blanket, while 1 yard makes a baby sized blanket. I will be teaching them to make a blanket or scarf. The scarf can be done with only one yard of fleece fabric. This is a fun project that the students look forward to every year. We will begin working on our sewing skills next semester.
Check out our recipes for everything we cook in class. They can all be found on the recipes page of this site or in your child's cookbook.

They are so proud of their creations!
Friday Free Cook has been a great source of excitement for the students as well as me! But... please do not feel pressured by your child to spend a small fortune to send in food to cook each week. The students choose the menu, and it can be as simple as each student bringing a few pieces of bread in to make homemade bread pudding. The groups do tend become competitive and try to "out-do" each other in the menu choices.
